Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description
On a 3 1/4 inch (8.26 cm) ultramarine blue equilateral triangle, point down, a white star 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in diameter with a red disc in the center thereof bearing the number 12 in white, below a pair of stylized golden orange wings.

Symbolism
The colors and elements represent the Army Air Force and the number 12 the numerical designation of the unit.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 1 December 1943.
